De Smet Engineers & Contractors (DSEC) provides the industry with general contracting services as an industrial integrator from project management (EPCM) to full turnkey construction (EPC) via Conceptual Engineering.

De Smet Agro (DSAG) is a subsidiary of De Smet Engineers & Contractors (DSEC), specialized in projects for the agro-nutrients industry. Taking root from over 65 years of experience, we provide the full range of project delivery services, from technical audits and technology solutions to complete EPCM and turnkey delivery to the Fertilizers Industry.

To support the development of its activities, DSAG is looking for a

Business Development Manager Fertilizers

The Business Development Manager is responsible for obtaining new business through market knowledge, customer intimacy, technical and commercial proposal work.

He needs to have a solid technical background, ideally in the field of fertilizers and to be commercially savvy.

He reports to the General Manager DSAG.

Job requirements

Main tasks and responsibilities:

    • Participate in the development of the business strategy
    • Identify the challenges and issues relating to projects
    • Maintain & develop a network of partners and prospects
    • Maintain & develop market intelligence and knowledge of the competition
    • Identify potential clients with a view to creating new business relationships
    • Elaborate technical & commercial proposals
    • Direct and/or respond to consultations and bids in accordance with company policy
    • Encourage loyalty with a view to retaining customers
    • Meet or exceed budgeted department revenues
    • Coordinate the development of strong client relationships

  • Fertilizers technical background
  • Fertilizers market knowledge


  • At least 5 to 10 years’ experience in chemical engineering or industry 


  • Master in Engineering – Chemistry


  • English 
  • other languages are an advantage
