Job description


The DSEC Planning & Scheduling Officer will help the project teams to deliver projects on schedule.

In close collaboration with the Project Manager, the Technical Director and the Construction Manager, he is responsible in preparing, monitoring, updating, and revising the Project schedule as necessary.

He monitors the accomplishments of the tasks, the project progress and analyses its effect on the project schedule.

He will be based in DSEC’s Head Quarter in Belgium and about 10% of its time should be dedicated to audit the construction site progress mainly abroad.

The DSEC Planning & Scheduling Officer responds directly to the the Technical Director and will work in direct coordination with the Project Managers.

The DSEC Planning & Scheduling Officer will be required to perform the following tasks:

Project Scheduling and Monitoring:

  • Prepare, based on the standard template and DSEC methodology, on Microsoft Project (mpp), the time schedule (level 1, 2, 3 or 4, according to the type of project).
  • Develop and implements acceptable planning progress measurement and scheduling techniques and methods.
  • Plan and develop three-week and three-months realistic look-ahead schedule.
  • On a two-week base, update the Projects’ Master Schedule (time based and or work accomplished based), analyse the critical path, Re-plan and establishes of Impacted schedule.
  • Monitor and update accurate schedule progress reports. Maintains records of scope changes, trends, and variances that potentially affect schedule performance.
  • Prepare Project Progress Report using the DSEC standard tools and including observations and comments, photographs, resource loading and issues concerning the project.

Supports to Sales and Projects

  • Support sales in the definition of the preliminary time schedule.
  • Prepares based on the standard template and DSEC methodology (WBS, SPI, TSPI,..) on Microsoft Project (mpp), the time schedule.

Construction Site Progress Monitoring

  • Prepare with the Project Manager and the Site Manager the specific construction time schedule.
  • Together with the Site Manager in order, collect the construction progress data to integrate in the Project Master Time Schedule.
  • At least once per quarter, visit each Construction Site to monitor the site reality and to update accordingly the Project Master Schedule status.

Responsibilities:

  • Analysing progress performances and addressing deficiencies accordingly.
  • Monitoring and tracking project progress and preparing reports.
  • Attending at scheduling meetings as required.
  • Communicating with managers, supervisors, and the rest of the team.
  • Ensuring the harmonized Project progress reporting of the various Project


Job requirements

Requirements :

  • Experience as planner for industrial Project Management and / or Construction Site planner experience, between 5 and 10 years.
  • Experience with Project Scheduling software (MS Project is a must, Primavera P6 is a plus), knowledge of advanced Microsoft Excel for data visualization and knowledge of Power BI.
  • Good understanding of the Project Scope of Work.
  • Strong multitasking abilities,
  • Strong analytical, critical, and logical thinking skills.
  • Structured and clear reporting capabilities
